Dentures & Partials

Tooth loss can mean giving up the foods you love and even feeling self-conscious about your smile. Poor nutrition puts your overall health at risk, and feeling bad about the way you look can impact your social life.

At Leech Family Dentistry, we provide solutions for missing teeth so our patients can enjoy smiling and eating the foods they love – some of our favorite things!

Dentures have long been one of the most dependable ways for patients to replace missing teeth and complete their smiles.

Complete (Full) Dentures

When you face extraction of all of your teeth, a complete (full) denture can provide a practical solution. Complete dentures replace all your teeth on your upper arch, lower arch, or both, depending on your needs. Dr. Leech takes great care to ensure that your denture will feel comfortable and that your smile gives you confidence.

Full dentures consist of a pink resin base to mimic the appearance of your gums and artificial teeth to provide you with a stable chewing surface. Denture teeth today look natural and come in a wide variety of options to match your facial features, age, and gender.

Your dentures require special care. Use only cleansers designed especially for dentures and lukewarm water to rinse them. Cleaning them regularly is essential to address the build-up of tartar and bacteria.

At your regular dental exams, we will examine your denture to make sure it is free of damage and fits well. Your bone will change over time, and you may need a denture reline or a replacement denture if the fit changes. Gaining and losing weight can even affect the fit of your denture, so let us know if something feels different or uncomfortable.

Partial Removable Dentures

If you still have some of your remaining teeth, we can replace your missing teeth with a partial denture and use your natural teeth to anchor it in place. Partial dentures come in a wide variety of materials from pink resin to metal and even flexible options. Dr. Leech will discuss your options with you and make a recommendation to meet your needs.

Partial dentures depend on your remaining natural teeth for stability, so excellent oral care is essential to maintaining your smile.

Implant-Supported Dentures

For patients who want added stability or who have difficulty with the fit of dentures, we offer implant-supported dentures as a great solution. We can place a few (usually 2, 4 or 6) dental implants and create dentures that “lock in” to place. Many of our patients appreciate the option of combining the economics of dentures with the stability of dental implants.

Frequently Asked Questions

For some patients, finding a dentist to create dentures that fit well and look natural is tough to do, but having an attractive denture that stays put when you need it most is important!

An ill-fitting denture can cause sores, make it impossible to eat, and even cause embarrassing moments when you speak and laugh. This can negatively impact your quality of life and your overall health. Dr. Leech knows how important it is for our denture patients to have reliable dentures. He takes great pride in creating dentures that fit our patients well and add confidence.

In some cases, patients have significant bone loss, making dentures a less suitable option. We can help. By placing a few dental implants into your upper or lower arch, we can design dentures that lock into place and use your dental implants as an anchor to hold it in place. Because implant-supported dentures lock in, they stay put when you eat, talk, laugh, and yawn. Not only does this provide additional confidence for our patients, it also helps broaden their nutrition options by making more foods accessible.

If you feel frustrated about your ill-fitting dentures, give us a call. Dr. Leech is happy to help you find a solution that improves your quality of life!
